Surya's Agaram foundation for a brighter future
Sri Sivakumar Educational andCharitable Trust was founded by veteran actor Sivakumar, father of actors Suriyaand Karthi, in the year 1979 and since then has been supporting the cause of education of deserving candidates.
The 33rd year award function of the trust was held at T Nagar in Chennai on July 6), which saw the participation of Sivakumar, Suriya and Karthi.
About 20 students were awarded Rs 10,000 each amounting Rs 2 lakh of financial assistance.
Thai Tamil Palli supporting primary education in Tindivanam and Vazhai, pioneers of mentoring first generation learners, received Rs 1.5 lakh each.
Sivakumar addressed the gathering and expressed his joy in serving the society for more than 25 years. He said that he was really happy that his legacy of nurturing the needy is now carried on with the same passion by his sons Suriya and
Karthi, addressing the basic needs of the needy children. Suriya, who gave away awards to deserving students, said education is no more a want but a basic necessity in life apart from food, shelter and clothing.
Agaram Foundation is now supporting more than 500 1st generation college goers and training them on all aspects such as personality development, versatility and adoptability helping them to be a responsible citizen of our country.
Karthi expressed interest to reach out to do lot more society.
The award function started with a prayer song by Brindha , daughter of Sivakumar, and was hosted by secretary of Agaram Foundation Jaishree. Producer S R Prabhu delivered the vote of thanks.
